Angélica Castelló & Burkhard Stangl

Angélica Castelló (Mexico, 1972) is a Mexican-Austrian composer, recorder player and sound electronic artist. Her compositions, abstract improvisations, electroacoustic works and performances are characterized by a sonic magic realism – realismo mágico sonoro. “My music is abstract, but it is very concrete people, stories that inspire me.” Her extravagant style can be heard on her releases Bestiario (mosz 024), the record “sonic Blue” (int 037) or the compositions “Severina” or “trois chansons tristes”, among others, and comes into its own especially in her live performances and sound installations (elektro altar, faunanosiva: cheap love). Numerous composition commissions, international collaborations and festival participations as well as publications.
Castelló studied music in Mexico, Canada, Holland and Austria.
She is also active as a curator and music educator.
