The concept of the piece is to collage images and sounds that I think create energy or harmony together. The sounds of my playing the guitar juxtaposed with the sounds of the birds calling at 0400 outside the window of my MQ studio, the sounds of the gospel choir rehearsing my new composition after a long period of sort of ‘architectural’ sounds—the sounds of stairways in large buildings with sustained pitches of the guitar, and violin. I composed a beginning and ending that both contain easily recognized musical sounds—electric guitar and voices—and the middle section is a meandering and subtle combination of sounds from the MQ itself, Florida, and New York City.
