Leah Singer and Lee Ranaldo have been working at the intersection of sound, image, and space for over three decades. Their collaborative practice combines experimental music, film, performance, and visual art to create audiovisual pieces characterized by a strong physical presence and a poetic, often improvised aesthetic.

Leah Singer (born 1962) works with film, projection, text, and space. Her visual language is poetic, fragmentary, and physical. Her works often emerge in real time as part of audiovisual live performances and has been shown in galleries, museums, and festivals around the world.

Lee Ranaldo (born 1956) is a co-founder of the legendary New York band Sonic Youth and is considered one of the most influential voices of experimental rock music. His guitar work has influenced generations of musicians. In addition to his musical career, Ranaldo is also internationally active as a visual artist, writer, and performer. In May 2024, Lee Ranaldo received the honorary Doctor of Music degree from his alma mater, Binghamton University, New York.

Leah Singer and Lee Ranaldo’s artist-in-residence stay in Krems is taking place in collaboration with AIR LOWER AUSTRIA KREMS.
